On April 12, 1998, TBC Radio 88.5FM, “The Breath of Change” was launched as a Christian Community Radio Station. Its target audience was the more mature cohort, with special attention being paid to the praise and worship needs of the home-bound.
Get this, April 12 was Easter Sunday, when the world commemorated the greatest action for change in the history of humankind. All this was undertaken, and will long be remembered by Tarrant Baptist Church.
You may be asking why? The fact is, God was doing a new thing that was bigger than the then pastor, bigger than the church, bigger than what everyone was thinking at the time.
Amazingly, that bigger picture is now being unfolded. This movement is spearheaded by the Radio Station through the instrumentality of the present pastor who is being used by the Holy Ghost (Acts 1:8) to fulfill God’s mandate for Jamaica as a little “Israel” Genesis 12:2-3. Where she is increasing in beauty, wisdom and prosperity, and is playing her part in advancing the welfare of every nation on earth. Genesis 22:18
Now, listen to this very carefully: We need to take our cues from what is happening in Israel, because that little nation chosen by Jehovah Elohim is His time-clock. Someone coined it like this:
“The nation of Israel is the hour hand, the capital Jerusalem is the minute hand, and the building of the third temple is the second hand on the clock”
So you’ll be glad to know what is happening: There is a remnant that Pastor Shuttleworth is gathering to fight for the nation of Jamaica. We are going across this nation town by town, city by city to expose and destroy spiritual wickedness in high places.
Well, believe it or not, it is an established fact that the crime, murder, extortion, scamming, gangs warfare, corruption, and all evil in the nation are not happening in a vacuum. They are all connected with the occult underworld, and that is what the scripture refers to as spiritual wickedness (Ephesians 6: 12-13).
TBC Radio, “The Breath of Change” did not come into existence by chance, coincidence or accident. This was in the divine plan of God from the foundation of creation. Ephesians 1:3-5. Let us pray for spiritual vision, insight and foresight, that we might be able to see clearly what God is doing in Jamaica, Israel, the United States and other nations of the world.
Well, you should know that on that special day, so many members of that church family, other church families and many other visiting friends, assembled in that very church building to celebrate the launch of their own radio station, TBC Radio 88.5FM – The Breath of Change.
I dare to say that was a very bold step for a little church as Tarrant Baptist. But we know that God chose and used the foolish and little things of the world to confound and shame the wise. 1 Corinthians 1:27
It is fitting to say, thanks be to God for the then pastor, the Rev. Neville Callam, who had a vision which gave birth to this wonderful idea; and so his zeal and enthusiasm found response in the membership of this church.
And guess what? Together we worked assiduously toward this goal. And today Tarrant Baptist Church has transformed into a worship hup of the city. This is a house of prayer (Isaiah 56:7) where believers can come in anytime of the day or night to pray.
Frankly, we cannot forget the pioneering spirit of Mr. Tomlin Ellis who, with his vast experience in radio operations, gave invaluable support to TBC Radio at the start and infancy of this beloved radio station.
Get this: As we give thanks to Almighty God for him, we believe that it is most fitting to say a big thank you to him, even at this time for his invaluable input.
Also, how can we forget to thank Mr Gary Callam, son of the former pastor and a former member of Tarrant Baptist Church, who was the General Manager of this lovely radio station for a number of years.
What it means is this: We really thank him for his zealous input during those years that he worked at TBC Radio – The Breath of Change.
Interestingly, this radio station operated initially as a Community Radio Station, with a deep desire to minister mainly to the elderly and home-bound. We were looking at the tree, but God could see the entire forest, He could see the end from the beginning (Isaiah 46:10)
Here’s what this is all about: How we give thanks to God our heavenly father, that under the leadership of our present pastor, Rev. Jeffery Shuttleworth, TBC Radio has expanded tremendously and is now ministering to a far wider audience, both in Jamaica and all over the world.
Let me explain exactly what is happening: This universal reach is made possible through the vision God has downloaded into the heart of this mighty man of God. He sees Jamaica destined by Jehovah Elohim to shake the world
Therefore, that is one reason the station is so unique and peculiar in providing information to its listenership on topical issues that affect Christendom and other significant areas of human existence.
Some of the programmes that address personal and spiritual topics affecting listeners include “Divine Connection“, aired Tuesdays at 10:00 pm; “Morning Joy – Special Edition” aired Fridays at 6:00 am; “Focus On The Family” aired weekdays at 11:00 am. “Unshackled” aired Saturdays at 1:30 pm and on Sundays at 3:00 pm. “Living on the Edge” aired weekdays at 9:30 pm. “Search The Scriptures” aired weekdays at 8:35 am.
Significantly, in this year 2018, when the Tarrant Baptist Church celebrates its 125th anniversary, TBC Radio 88.5 and 88.9 FM – The Breath of Change, will celebrate its 20th year of Christian witness during the month of April.
Incidentally, as a 125th anniversary activity of the Tarrant Baptist Church, there is an event that will certainly outlast the year long celebration. I am making reference to an Entrepreneurship Competition managed by Bro. Michael Steele. When the competition ends, they will become viable businesses that will grow nationally and internationally.
The sky will be the limit, because I am convinced that this business thrust will transform the lives of those involved. The only disappointment is the small amount of persons who caught on to the vision.
We certainly thank Jehovah Elohim, the God of Abraham, Issac and Jacob, (Matthew 22:32), for blessing this radio station. We say thanks for the tremendous support it is now receiving from other christian groups or organizations both in Jamaica and other parts of the world.
The aim, goal and desire of this radio station is to spread the gospel of salvation of the Lord Jesus Christ of Nazareth(Acts 4:10) to the people of the nation Jamaica and every nation of the earth.
Thanks to the present hard working manager and staff members whose output continues to make this radio station “The Breath of Change“
Therefore, because of all that is said above, let us do the following: First and foremost, if you are not saved, get save. If you are saved, then you must get seriously and intimately closer with Jehovah the God of Israel. Walk holy, think soberly, pray earnestly, live humbly, live confidently and be vigilant resisting the devil. 1 Peter 5:8.
